Delete your account
Last updated 17 October 2026
This page is for the dxbydy app by DxByDy. You can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it, or to delete only part of your study data and keep the account. Both are below, and neither costs anything.
Delete it yourself, in the app
Open dxbydy, go to Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account. You are shown exactly what is about to go and asked to confirm. It happens immediately and signs you out — there is nothing to wait for and nobody to email.
This is the fastest route, and the one to use if you can still sign in.
If you cannot sign in
Email info@dxbydy.com.au from the address you signed in with, and write Delete my account in the subject.
Sending it from your own address is how we know the request is yours. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email, send it from the relay address Apple gave you — it reaches us the same way, and it is the address on your account. If you can no longer send from that address, write to us anyway and we will find another way to confirm it is you before deleting anything.
You do not need the app installed for this route. We will confirm by reply when the deletion is done, normally within a few days and always within 30 days of your request.
What is deleted
Everything below is removed permanently and cannot be recovered:
What is kept, and why
Decks other people already have. When you share a deck, the person you send it to receives their own copy — the cards are duplicated into their library rather than borrowed from yours. Those copies belong to them and stay with them. Deleting your account removes your originals and the record of the share; it does not reach into another student's library and delete their cards.
Your subscription billing. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — Apple, Google or our web payment provider bills you, not us, and keeps its own record of the purchase. Cancel it there first (in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, or from Membership on the web) so you are not charged again.
Backups, briefly. Deleted data can persist in encrypted database backups for up to 90 days, after which the backups expire and it is gone. Nobody uses those backups to restore your account, and they are not readable by the app.
Anything the law requires. If we are ever legally required to retain a record, we keep only that record, only for as long as required. We do not currently hold anything in this category.
We do not keep an anonymised copy of your study history. There is no analytics profile to keep — see our privacy page.
Deleting some of your data, without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to get rid of something. Signed in, on the web or in the app, you can delete at any time and without asking us:
For anything you cannot remove yourself — your whole review history, for instance, while keeping your account and your cards — email info@dxbydy.com.au and say what you want removed. Same 30-day window, same confirmation by reply.
If you change your mind
Tell us before we process it and we will stop — nothing is deleted until we act on the request, and we reply before we do. Afterwards there is nothing to restore: deletion is permanent, and signing up again with the same email gives you a new, empty account rather than your old one back.
Questions
Write to info@dxbydy.com.au. If a parent, guardian or school is asking on a student's behalf, say so and we will tell you what we need to confirm the request.
